USA: Barbara Singer Cheng, MCEC ♦ Executive Coach

Barbara Singer Cheng is the founder, president, and CEO of Executive Core and leads a group of 100 global professionals whose mission is to more quickly innovate professional development globally. In the last 15 years, Barbara has worked with thousands of high-potential leaders around the globe at critical turning points in their careers. Barbara has dedicated her career to developing leaders who remain focused on the business priorities, anticipate the future, and remove obstacles.

Prior to Executive Core, she held two SVP roles at Lore International Institute, made partner in her early 30s, and helped lead the organization through start-up to among the top 25% globally ranked before it was acquired by Korn Ferry International.

Her clients range from successful CEOs to emerging leaders whose careers are fast-tracking. She enjoys working in large global organizations or helping executive teams of mid-sized organizations avoid common pitfalls as they evolve in the markets. In addition to serving leaders on top management teams, she has more than a decade of experiences serving as executive sponsor and engagement manager.

Barbara is an accomplished speaker, facilitator, executive coach and consultant. She often conducts strategic planning sessions with executive teams and partners with clients to build a talent management strategy closely tied to their key objectives. Barbara also helped pioneer the field of executive coaching and was responsible for recruiting and certifying a network of 250 executive coaches and senior consultants. She has worked with dozens of publicly traded and mid-sized organizations to improve their sales and marketing function. She earned instructor of the year early in her career in her prior firm and consistently achieved some of the firm’s highest evaluations for presentations to large audiences, executive education facilitation, and executive coaching engagements.

CANADA: Jean Laporte, MCEC ♦ Executive & Business Coach

Jean Laporte, formally a member of YPO and currently a member of WPO, is the author of Success 101: Tips and Strategies, published in January 2009 in French and English. He is also the founder and CEO of VisionsActions consulting.

From 2002 to September 2009 he was president of Rogers Communications for Eastern Canada. Currently, Laporte is a speaker and an executive coach specializing in growing businesses. He is also a member of the board of directors for the Breakfast Club and several other boards.

He is an experienced manager, an entrepreneur, and a communicator who has worked for five years in SME before joining Apple Computer for 10 years. He has worked with small and large businesses, governments and universities. Laporte joined Microcell Solutions (Fido) as vice president where he led sales and stores across Canada.

With a distinguished career in the field of computer and telecommunications, Laporte became a large account sales representative at Apple Canada in 1987. During his years at Apple Canada, he held several executive positions, including vice president and general manager of Eastern Canada’s Quebec Division. In 1997, Fido’s (Microcell Solutions) retail network, with 57 outlets and more than 600 employees, had its greatest success under Laporte’s leadership as national vice president of sales.

US: Jim Kouzes, MCEC ♦ Executive Coach, Author

Jim Kouzes is the coauthor with Barry Posner of the award-winning and best-selling book, The Leadership Challenge, with over 2 million copies sold and available in 22 languages. He’s also the Dean’s Executive Fellow of Leadership, Leavey School of Business, Santa Clara University.

The fifth edition of The Leadership Challenge was released in July 2012, marking the 25th anniversary of the book. Jim is also an experienced executive. He served as president, then CEO and chairman of the Tom Peters Company from 1988-until 2000. He also founded the Joint Center for Human Services Development at San Jose State University, which he directed from 1972 until 1980. Jim’s lifelong career in education began in 1967-1969 when he served for two years in the Peace Corps. Jim believes it was on January 20, 1961 when he was first inspired to dedicate himself to leadership. That was the day he was one of only a dozen Eagle Scouts who served in John F. Kennedy’s Honor Guard at the Presidential Inauguration.
